Enjoy The Climb

Heading to the White Rocks up the Ewing Trail
Right outside the parking lot we stir a flock of quail
Leaves are dripping from newly fallen rain
But we don’t complain

Redbuds are fading, coming to an end
Dogwoods are blooming, dancing in the wind
White tails of deer go bobbing through the trees
So glad you came along with me

Trying to take our time
To leave our troubles behind
Never know what we will find
But we enjoy the climb
Enjoy the climb

There’s fiddleheads emerging and trilliums all around
Pink, white and red flowers scattered on the ground
An orange salamander crawls slowly from the stream
There’s always so much to see

We hear a crow caw further up the way
And a yellow bellied sapsucker pecking through the day
The tree canopy breaks from shade to sun
But we don’t stop having fun

Trying to take our time
To leave our troubles behind
Never know what we will find
But we enjoy the climb
Enjoy the climb

Up on the summit there’s such a great view
The green of Powell Valley, and skies so clear and blue
